Here’s my first bit of advice when traveling to San Francisco – DO NOT EAT AT DENNY’S! Yup, that’s right. Do not eat there. I understand the restaurant is inside of a hotel and that’s their excuse for having higher than normal prices, but they are taking advantage of traveler’s wallets.
The first thing you notice when you walk in is that the lighting is horrible. It felt like walking into a damp, dark cave. Not welcoming at all. I was half expecting to see a cave troll.
Things only got worse from here.
When I first looked at the menu, I thought the prices were a joke. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The breakfast menu has dinner prices. I believe the least expensive combo on the menu was $14. If my memory serves me correctly, that was just for two slices of toast and a coffee (cream and sugar were extra). Not, really. Just joking….I hope!
To my surprise, the GO TO item on the menu was TOO DAMN HIGH! $20 for a Grand Slam! WTF!!! Talk about price gouging!
Service was average. Nothing to warrant paying $20 for a meal.
The food was sub-par. The eggs were flavorless and tasted like they were cooked in dish water. The pancakes were okay, but cold for having just come out of the kitchen.
I’ll probably make a few people cry when I say this, however, the bacon was horrible. Yes, Denny’s managed to ruin bacon. I. WAS. DISGUSTED.
Then came the bill…
The final damage was $52, for two people, which included drinks. NEVER. AGAIN!
