As I sit in a moment of nostalgic heaven, I can’t help but reflect on the games that turned me into a gamer, to begin with! Let’s talk about all things, Mario!! If you’ve never stayed up and binged played Super Mario sitting on the verge of tears and rage when you couldn’t complete a level, you haven’t truly lived. Super Mario, Dr. Mario, and Mario vs Donkey Kong were the staples of my childhood. There was nothing that would throw me into a full on anxiety attack more than the music on Dr. Mario when the level speeds up and you had to manage not to overstack your pill bottle! By the way, whose idea was it to market pill stacking to children? Lol
No matter what you played everything from Super Smash Brothers to Luigi’s Mansion always offered a great deal of long lasting entertainment. Even as an adult I can get lost in the Mario saga for hours on end. As Shigeru Miyamoto once said “I think that inside every adult is the heart of a child. We just gradually convince ourselves that we have to act more like adults” Mario will always take you to that happy place. A normal guy who goes on great adventures with his best friend, how can you ever go wrong? No matter what you do today, take some time to rediscover the Mario in you.
