Alien: Covenant Review – A Very ‘Meh’ Movie | #GeeksWithForks

Although the newest Alien isn’t “bad”, I can’t really decide if I even liked it or not. At best, the movie was ‘meh’. I’m trying to find the motivation to even write a review about the movie. I wasn’t bored out of my mind, but I would have rather watched it on Netflix or HBO. The movie was

Honestly,  it was just a variation of the same story from the previous Alien movie-> Crew wakes up early-> gets random and mysterious distress signal -> Tracks signal back to planet where chaos ensues -> idiots get facial from spider alien and lays egg is idiot -> XENOMORPH KILLS EVERYBODY!

Sooooooooo original!

To be honest, all the movie did was gives us a half-hearted origin story of the Xenomorph. Long story short, David, the Android from Prometheus, makes it make the big blue aliens home world and wipes out their entire population by dropping the canisters of the virus that were discovered in the alien ship. From that point on, Walter spends the next 10 years bio-engineering the virus and ultimately creating the “face-huggers”.

That’s it…that’s all you need to know about the movie. That’s all I really cared about. The characters are forgettable. The writers tried to make us care about the crew, but failed. I cared nothing for the people involved.

While David is the most intriguing character, this movies leaves a lot on the table – plot holes!

My suggestion would be to wait for the movie to hit Netflix.
